Telecoms engineer job description

A telecoms engineer, or communication engineer, works to apply their specialist knowledge to computer and telephone networks. In junior roles that can mean carrying out troubleshooting and maintenance on and off site, but in senior managerial positions it may involve more of the business side - for example, working with suppliers, allocating assignments to teams, and creating practical business solutions for both internal and external stakeholders.

Telecoms engineer salary

Starting salaries for freshly out of training, newly qualified telecoms engineers can range between £20-28k, while experienced engineers can bring down more than £60k. This is excluding benefits, which can include profit sharing schemes, discounts on company products and a pension. There is also the possibility of going freelance; although, those wishing to put the time in with a single company may find ample career advancement opportunities.
